Research in our lab is centered on developing novel tissue engineering microtechnologies to mimic native cellular microenvironments. Specific areas of interest are to develop three-dimensional tumor models and study cancer drug resistance, generate neural cells from stem cells for cell replacement therapies of neurodegenerative disorders, and develop lung airway models to study therapeutics delivery to lungs. These interdisciplinary projects are funded by NIH and NSF, involve both experimental and computational aspects, and collaboration with engineering, medical, and clinical investigators.
