Dr. Tavana will attend and present on the 3D tumor modeling project in the 2019 NCI/IMAT PIs’ meeting in Los Angeles Nov 22-23.
Sunil won a travel award to the 2020 Society for Lab Automation and Screening conference (www.slas2020.org), congratulations!

Dr. Tavana and his collaborator at Vanderbilt University were awarded a research grant to study clinical cancer treatment regimens in engineered tumor models.
Dr. Tavana was awarded a new grant from NIH to support Justin Putman’s research in our lab toward the NCI’s goal of increasing diversity in cancer research.
Pradip successfully defended his PhD dissertation. Congratulations Dr. Shahi Thakuri! Using a 3D tumor model, he showed that cancer cells develop adaptive resistance to drugs by activation of feedback signaling and introduced treatment regimens to suppress drug resistance.
Maddie’s first-authored paper was just accepted in Advanced Therapeutics! Impressively, this is the result of four years of research during her undergraduate studies.
Dr. Tavana was awarded a new R33 grant from NIH to develop models of human breast tumors that will help understand biology of the disease and facilitate discovery of cancer drugs. Take a look at the media page:
